Hello Beautiful Friend,
This life as a homeschool mom is not for the faint at heart and I feel so very blessed that God has given us each other to journey this road together! It is my prayer that through this blog I can bless you with encouragement, inspiration, laughter, and recommendations for books, skincare products, and our favorite homeschool resources. A little about me- I have been married to my wonderful husband for 10 years and together we have two little boys (ages 6 and 2) and two dogs. We live in beautiful central Pennsylvania in a house that my grandparents built and lived in as they raised my dad and his brothers. I grew up on a gamebird farm with my parents and younger sister. Several hours a week I still work for my parents which allows me to be home with my boys most of the week with time to homeschool and enjoy watching the grow.
At the beginning of this year I went on a mission to become a better mom to my two little boys. I wasn’t even sure where to start but I knew that I wasn’t the best version of myself and that needed to change. I am definitely still a work in progress but I’m closer now than I was before. I was thrown a few curveballs this year that I never could have prepared for but through it all I have grown closer to God and, through HIM had the strength to continue my mission. After a lot of prayer for direction, God gave me three words that I have used to guide my journey towards becoming a better me- Read, Pray, and Mom.
READ- I used to be an avid reader before I became a mother but since having kids I don’t make time for reading as much as I used to. I’m still not reading as much as I would like to but what has changed is that I’ve started intentionally making time to read. My mornings start intentionally with getting out of bed earlier than everyone else in my family to start my day reading my Bible. As my day goes on I look for pockets of time to read other books throughout the day.
PRAY- My prayer life hasn’t always been where I want it to be but that has definitely changed this year. As the year has gone on and the hard times and good times have come my prayer life has improved. I have talked to so many people about how we tend to only pray when things are hard and seem to turn to God as our last resort instead of the first. My mission with prayer has been to be in an ongoing conversation with God throughout my day no matter how hard or easy my day has been.
MOM- My focus for this part of my mission is to get into healthy habits that will improve my mom-life. My habit focuses tend to change from time to time (many are still a work in progress) but have encompassed drinking more water, eating healthier, writing to-do lists/planning more, and looking for little pockets of time to enjoy silence (boy mom life is LOUD). The next habits on my list to conquer are- getting into a consistent movement/workout routine and figuring out a cleaning schedule. I think that as time goes on the healthy habits that I want to develop will change but right now I am intentionally choosing habits that directly affect my ability to be the best mom I can be to my boys.
I am so excited to continue on my mission in the years to come and can’t wait to take you along on my journey! I would love to hear in the comments what you are working on in your life right now!
