Hello Beautiful Friend,
I’m going to try to keep this short today, but we’ll see where God leads my words today. A few questions to set the tone for today- Who is building your house? Who is at the center of your house?
As Christians, the answer to those questions should always be God but I know for me, there are times I get caught up in life and find that I am doing more building on my own and instead of depending on God. As moms, especially homeschool moms who are home with their children all day, it’s so easy to get overwhelmed and lost in our day. My encouragement to you today is when you get to that point of overwhelm, turn it over to God. Let HIM be the one to do the building. On our own we’re going to mess up, make wrong decisions, and get overwhelmed BUT with HIM building our house- we can do fulfill our God-given mission of raising our children well!
My church introduced a new song to me a few months ago that I absolutely love because it speaks to me every time I listen to it! I’m going to put a link to the song below but wanted to put just a few of the lyrics here for you to read also:
“I’ve built up my own name
But the walls couldn’t stand
I’ve trusted my own strength
But it was sinking sand
So I put my ruins
Into Your hands
And watch You restore them
Like only You can
‘Cause if the Lord builds the house
Nobody can tear it down
If the Lord builds the house
Nobody can tear it down
When it’s built on His name
There’s nothing gonna shake this ground
If the Lord builds the house
Nobody can tear it down
Ooh
The bricks may be weathered (yeah)
Through storm and through fire (fire)
Uh, but what God holds together (yeah)
It stands firm every time (every time, oh)
‘Cause my life is anchored
On this solid truth (anchored on the truth)
That whatever God’s building (build)
No, it can’t be moved
…
As for me and my house
We’re gonna serve You Lord
So here’s the keys, come on in
Everything we have is Yours”
If The Lord Builds The House, Song by Hope Darst and Jon Reddick
I absolutely love the bridge where it reminds us of Joshua 24:15 “… but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” To me the phrase of the song that gives God the keys and tells HIM to come in because everything is HIS is such a powerful visual of what our every day should be. I think if we started every day giving God the keys to our house and inviting HIM in, our days would probably be a whole lot more peaceful and just as God intended them.
Who is building your house today? Have you given HIM the keys yet?
