Good Morning Beautiful Friend!
Somehow we’ve made it almost halfway through November already! Are you starting to stress about the upcoming holidays as much as I am? This morning I just wanted to write you a short note to explain a way that I have found relieves a little bit of the overwhelm. In two words- Brain Dump!
I try to start each week by making a list of every little thing that I can think of that is on my mental to-do list. Sometimes this list can get long and overwhelming but it can also be helpful to just write it down instead of using extra brain power (who really has extra to spare right now?) trying to remember every little thing.
Next I use that list to make a plan. I start by figuring out what NEEDS to be done this week- not what I WANT to get done but what NEEDS to be done. From there I figure out what on that list NEEDS to be done today- those items (and only those items) get added to my to-do list for today.
From there it depends on how much time I have left to plan. Sometimes I’ll break down the rest of the “to-be-done-this-week” list into each day of the week, other days I don’t have time for that and I take a few minutes the next morning to figure out needs to be done that day and continue that pattern throughout the week. One big tip for each day is to try to make at least a few of the items on your daily to-do list “quick-win” items. The quick-win items can do wonders for helping you feel accomplished/encouraged throughout the day.
Now that we’ve focused on what NEEDS to be done TODAY, you have a goal list in place. However, if you find that you’ve finished those tasks and still have time left over (go you!), of course go ahead and tackle another task on that master list for your week or even from your initial brain-dump list.
My prayer today is that this idea helps you overcome at least a little bit of that overwhelm. ❤️
Praying that your coffee/tea is strong and your faith is stronger each day!
